Occupational & Business License Ordinance
City of Manchester Ordinance No: 2009-002 (opens as a PDF file) specifies that license fees shall apply to and be assessed to occupations and businesses which conduct business or otherwise engage in these activities in the City of Manchester. Any such person or entity or firm or corporation shall first obtain a license to conduct such trade, business or occupation and pay a license fee to the City of Manchester. The license fee shall be paid as a condition to said person, entity, firm or corporation conducting said activity in the City of Manchester.
Occupational and business licenses may be obtained at the City of Manchester Water/Tax Office on Bridge Street across from the Public Library in downtown Manchester. The Water/Tax Office is open from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
Individual License Fees
Refer to Ordinance No: 2009-002 for individual license fees relating to occupations and businesses.
Any occupation, trade or other business activity conducted in the City of Manchester, which is not covered under one of the specific headings and categories specified in the ordinance, shall require a license and necessitate an annual license fee of $50.00.
Payment of License Fees
Occupational and business license bills are mailed annually in June and are to be paid in full on or before July 1.
Payment of occupational and business license fees may be made by mailing the bill and a check or money order to the City of Manchester, 123 Town Square, Manchester, Kentucky 40962. Please do not send cash through the mail.
Payments may also be made in person at the City of Manchester Water/Tax Office on Bridge Street across from the Public Library in downtown Manchester. The Water/Tax Office is open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
Upon payment in full of license fees, the entity, firm or corporation shall receive three copies of their occupational and/or business license.
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, corporation or association, to engage in, pursue or carry on any business, trade, occupation or profession outlined in the ordinance without first obtaining a license and paying a license fee.
Any person, firm, corporation or association violating any of the provisions of the ordinance, such person, firm, corporation or association shall be assessed a civil fine of not less than $10.00 nor more than $100.00 for such violation.
